Spicy Black Bean Quinoa Burgers

These are the veggie burgers that make people stop saying they don't like veggie burgers. They hold together, they have real flavor, and they get a proper crust on the outside. The quinoa adds texture and protein, the black beans bring the heartiness, and the spices make them genuinely exciting.
Ingredients
- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup cooked quinoa
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or oat flour
- 1 egg (or flax egg for vegan)
- 1/2 red onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- Salt and pepper
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- 1Mash black beans in a large bowl until mostly smooth with some texture remaining.
- 2Add quinoa, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, and all spices. Mix well.
- 3Season generously with salt and pepper.
- 4Form into 6 patties. Refrigerate 20 minutes to firm up.
- 5Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties 4–5 minutes per side until a dark crust forms.
- 6Serve on buns with your favorite toppings.
