Savory Saffron Elixir
10 minServes 1
A warm, golden elixir built around saffron and cardamom - two of the most ancient and restorative spices in the world. Simmered gently in nut milk with a touch of vanilla and honey, this is the kind of drink that slows you down and reminds you to savor.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup nut milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- Dash of honey or agave
- Pinch of saffron threads
- Seeds of 1 cardamom pod, ground
- Garnishes: cinnamon, turmeric, cordyceps, saffron
Instructions
- 1Combine all ingredients except garnishes in a small pan.
- 2Heat until almost boiling, stirring every minute or so, then reduce to medium-low.
- 3Simmer for 1–2 minutes.
- 4Pour into a cup and garnish as you like with cinnamon, turmeric, cordyceps, and extra saffron threads.
Jennifer's tip
Have fun with the garnishes - a pinch of turmeric, a dusting of cinnamon, and a few extra saffron threads make this feel like a ritual.
